Should You Develop A Regular Or E-Commerce Site?

Differences between a Regular Site and E-Commerce

By now, your business is thriving locally and your customers keep coming back for more. The competition is starting to get scared and realize that they have a real bully on their hands. Your profits are as high as they have ever been. So by now you are ready to tap into another market and show everybody who is boss. Customers on the other side of the country have not heard about you but that can all change rather quickly. With the large profits that you have earned through hard work and dominating your local market, you’ve been able to set yourself up for a small expansion. The other side of the country is a market that is just waiting for you to own.

Website

Building your company site is a great way to attract customers from all over. This method will work if you take the time to plan and carry out the correct strategy. The first step is to decide on what type of site you want your business to have. This will depend on one basic question; do you want to sell your product or service directly to online shoppers? The answer to this simple question will help you decide what type of site will be best for you. If you want to be able to sell your directly, you want an ecommerce site. If you don’t, a regular site will be enough.

Basic Differences

So an ecommerce site will allow customers to view and add products to their virtual cart. Once they have enough products added, they can “checkout”. This means they’d be paying for whatever is in the cart and you would receive the order to fill. This is definitely the biggest difference between ecommerce and a regular site. A regular site would still display the product and its information but it wouldn’t have an option to order direct from the website. This is something that you must think about and decide on before you go ahead with either choice.

Timeframe

The time it takes to build an ecommerce site is significantly more than a basic. The reason for this is that on a regular site, you only have to add a certain number of products and basic information regarding them. On ecommerce site however, you must add the product, sizes, colors, etc. All of that takes time and makes the process more complicated.

Regular Site

On a regular site, the time you save by not having to add an entire catalog of products can be dedicated to posting videos of your product or service in action. This is a great way to show potential customers what they are in store for if they end up choosing your company. A great video will convince a customer who is otherwise not sure who to hire. In the end, your site is yours but it should definitely display your company in a positive manner and show why you are the best in your industry.
